Judge Burger was a Circuit Judge for the Twenty Second Judicial Circuit for thirteen years (1995-2008); she was the trial judge for numerous complicated civil cases including multi-week trials and one trial lasting three months. Before becoming a judge, she practiced practiced law for nineteen years; first as a prosecutor for four years, then as a solo practitioner in the general practice of law.� Judge Burger's practice included cases in several jurisdictions in the St. Louis area.

She was appointed to sit on the Missouri Supreme Court to hear cases as special judge in 1997. She was Presiding Judge for the St. Louis Drug Court for two years; Truancy Court Judge at Roosevelt High School for four years. Judge Burger retired from the bench in 2008. Before becoming a judge, she practiced law for nineteen years; first as a prosecutor for four years with the Juvenile Court and then as an Assistant Circuit Attorney. For the next fifteen years, she practiced law with small firms or in solo practice. Judge Burger’s practice included cases in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County and Jefferson County. She served as a Hearing Officer for the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners during that time.
