Accomplishments

From 2000 to the present, Ms. Swartz has practiced as an attorney and managing partner of Joan M. Swartz, L.L.C.; Herzog, Crebs & McGee, L.L.P., 1998-2000; Lashley & Baer, P.C., 1987-1998. While operating her own firm, her emphasis is on business-related issues including both transactions and litigation. She also has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of matters, including: employment-related disputes, environmental issues (including coverage disputes, premises liability and compliance issues), real estate, personal injury, complex class action litigation, business torts (including fraud and misrepresentation), breach of contract, municipal and government concerns, appellate cases and other civil litigation. Ms. Swartz is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. She is a frequent author and lecturer on legal topics, including "Mandatory Arbitration of Employment Disputes", "New Developments in ADR", "Ethically Marketing Your Law Practice" and "Tax Treatment of Environmental Clean-Up Costs", Missouri Environmental Law and Policy Review, Volume 4, No.3, 1997.
